Accessibility

Remit is built to WCAG 2.2 level AA. Every screen has labelled controls, visible keyboard focus, sufficient colour contrast and no content that relies on colour alone.
What is tested
An automated accessibility scan (axe, the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 AA rules) runs over the sign-in page and every signed-in screen on every build, and the build fails on any serious or critical violation.
Keyboard
All navigation, forms, the command palette (Ctrl K or ⌘K) and menus can be operated without a mouse. Wide tables scroll inside a focusable region.
Known limitations
Remit has not yet been tested by hand with screen readers; the automated scan checks every screen on each build but cannot catch everything. Until manual testing with NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver is done and listed here, these areas are the most likely to need attention: charts are drawn as images with a spoken summary and a link to the data; some pages refresh themselves when data changes, which a screen reader may not announce; and uploaded documents are only as accessible as their content. Animation on the website and sign-in page stops when your device asks for reduced motion.
